아버지는 병원에서 일해요.

L: When you wanna ask somebody what do you do for a living, you could say 무슨 일을 하세요? 무슨is what, 일을is work, 하세요is do you do.

PRONUNCIATION
무스닐 ---> 무슨닐

L: 아버지는 무슨 일을 하세요?
S: 우리 아버지는 회사에 다니세요. He works at a company. 병원에서 일하세요 He works at a hospital.

내 아버지 ---> 우리 아버지
When we say my father, my country, NO, in Korean we say our father, our mother, all together. It can be expended to meet our language, our country. And we get really confusing when women say 우리 남편 means our husband.

WRAP IT OUT

3 회  지금 시에요?

Lisa: Stephen, what time did you wake up today?
Stephen: Oh, I wake up a little late, why?
Lisa: Yeah, I know this. All right, could you tell me exactly what time?
Stephen: Yes, I was a couple little late today. We’re going to talk about what time is it today. How you all can say the time in Korean.
Lisa: That’s right. If you know how to tell the time, you won’t be late next time.

LET’S DO IT
지금시에요?
지금, 7 시에요.

몇 is usually how many, how much. And 시 is actually hour, it’s a little oral translation. And then the meaning of translation is “What time is it?”.

지금 2시 30분입니다. It’s 2:30 right now.
But something confusing in Korean, there’re 2 different sets of numeral here. The Korean numeral system is used for the hour, placed before 시, for example, 하나, 둘, 셋, 넷, 다섯.
The Sino-Korean or Chinese-Korean system is 일, 이, 삼, 사, 오.

지금, 4시 30분입니다. = 지금, 4시 반입니다. It’s 4:30 right now.
반 is the same as 30분, means half.

Ten to or ten before.
You say 4시 십분전. 4시 is 4 o’clock, 십분 is ten minutes, 전 is before. Not bad, it’s pretty easy, you just put 전 in the end.
지금, 3시 50분입니다. = 지금, 4시 10분 전입니다.

WRAP IT OUT
S: 리사! 지금시에요?
L: 7 30분이에요.
S: 우리, 아침먹읍시다.

PRACTICE
It’s 1:50 right now.
지금, 1 50분입니다.
지금, 2 10전입니다.

VOCABULARY
한시        1 o’clock     일   1
두시        2 o’clock     이   2
세시        3 o’clock     삼   3

네시        4 o’clock     사   4
다섯시   5 o’clock     오    5
여섯시   6 o’clock     육    6
일곱시   7 o’clock     칠    7
여덟시   8 o’clock     팔    8
아홉시   9 o’clock     구    9
열시      10 o’clock     십  10

Lisa: Right, we tried the first situation earlier to give you example. Going back to Stephen said, 휴대폰이 어디에 있어요 means where’s my cell phone, so to answer it, you need to learn all the, on, under, besides, and next to, try this out.

탁자 is table.
탁자 위에 있어요. on top of the table
탁자 아래에 있어요. underneath the table
탁자 옆에 있어요. next to the table

냉장고 안에 ---> 냉장고에
Miriam: I think you’ll suppose to say 사과가 냉장고 안에 있어요, and 연필이 필통 안에 있어요. But in the both sentences, you was missing the 안에 part.
Stephen: Right, very good, a wonderful student. Yes, we actually didn’t go over IN, in is 안에, we didn’t go over that. 안에 있어요 means to be inside of something. You could say 냉장고 안에 있어요, but it’s not necessary. They just say 냉장고에 잇어요.
